How to make a straight cable;
 
Straight cable is a cable that has the same installation method from one end to the other. As for the use of straight cable:
 
  • connect between computer and switch
  • connecting computer with LAN on cable/DSL modem
  • connect router with LAN on cable/DSL modem
  • connect switch to router
  • connect hub to router
Steps to make a straight cable:
 
Color order on Straight . cable
 
1. Peel the end of the UTP cable, about 2 cm.
 
2. Untwist the cable, then straighten and sort the colors according to the standard.
 
3. After the order is according to the standard, cut and flatten the end of the cable with crimping pliers
 
4. Insert the straight and aligned cable into the RJ-45 connector, and make sure that it is positioned correctly.
 
5. Do crimp and press until all the pins (brass) on the RJ-45 connector have bitten on each cable. 
 
 
How to make a cross cable:
 
Cross cable is a cable that has a different arrangement from one end to the other. Cross cable is used to connect the same 2 devices. Adapa use cross cable:
 
  • connect 2 computers directly
  • connect 2 make a switch
  • connect 2 hubs
  • connect switch with hub
  • connect computer with router
Steps to make a cross cable:
The order of colors on the Cross cable.
To make a Cross cable has almost the same steps as a Straight cable, the  difference lies only in the order of the two ends of the cable . Unlike straight cables, which have the same color sequence at both ends, cross cables have different color sequences at both ends.
 
The last step of making straight and cross cables is to check the cable with a  LAN Tester . How to input the end of the cable ( RJ-45 connector) into each port available on the LAN Tester. Make sure all the LED lights are lit in the order the wires were made.
